Who We Are
Charley’s Restaurant & Catering has been a cherished dining destination in Lynchburg, Virginia since 1980. Originally founded by Charley Sands, the restaurant quickly became a local favorite for hearty American cuisine — from steaks and fresh seafood to comfort classics and family meals. Today, Charley’s continues that tradition at its Graves Mill Road location, serving guests from Lynchburg, Forest, Timberlake, and across Central Virginia.

Our Story & Local Roots
After a successful career in professional baseball, Charley Sands opened the first Charley’s restaurant in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1975. The Lynchburg location followed in 1980, and over the decades it has grown into a deeply rooted local institution built on quality food, warm service, and community connection.
In 2001, Charley’s expanded its offerings by establishing a full-service catering department, providing off-site catering for meetings, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and community events throughout Lynchburg and Central Virginia.
